Gemsbok (Oryx gazella)

Pale grey with white underparts. There is a black stripe along the back ending in a patch on the rump. Black between grey and white on the rump and down the legs, also on the head. I guess the most magnificent of these animals are the horns, exceptionally straight, both sexes have them.

Males average 1.26 m and females 1.25 m at shoulder height with average weight of 240 kg for males and 210 kg, females.2-2009_09010032They love arid, semi-arid open grassland, scrub and open woodland, but they are true desert animals too.
