Recognized by its red bill and legs, but the amount of white under the throat and breast differ from region to region. The South African version has very little white, whereas the Mozambican and Swaziland version have much more white, head being nearly all white. Likes moist dense forest type habitats, like forests, river edges and thickets. I have always found them to be fairly elusive, in so much that you may see them regularly but they tend to disappear just a quick, just time for a glance shot or two. Initially it seemed just the same when we saw it just of the road in the Addo park. Later we stopped at a rest stop, but this time they acted like chickens, came straight to my wife and son, while she fed him looking for food. It shows just how adaptable nature can be, or lets rather say, when there is the opportunity for free food, why not take it. Boeta got a kick out of it and for that I am grateful.
