Black-headed Heron (Ardea melanocephala)

 

On an early morning drive, one of the first birds we saw was a hunting Black-headed Heron. This one was hunting in the grasslands found every now and then within the valley bushveld, mainly due to previously used farmlands, since incorporated into the Addo National Park. Although it is fairly common with its look-a-like Grey Heron, it is a beautiful bird to watch. Link to previous bird post.
